After SS13: Stage void – Meeke is king of Scotland

Fittingly the final stage of the 2009 IRC series was the majestic 33km epic of Loch Ard, into which Guy Wilks took his Skoda UK Fabia S2000 with just a 20 second deficit to the leader Kris Meeke in his Peugeot UK 207 S2000, but cancellation came after an accident for David Bogie.

Just eight minutes into his run, Wilks was forced to stop alongside both Meeke and Alister McRae when the stage was blocked by Bogie's car, which was running ahead of them.

The unfortunate Scot lost control and his Ralliart rolled, coming to rest wedged across the full width of the stage, and abandonment was the only answer. As a result of annulling the stage, the positions at the end of SS12 hand 30-year-old Kris Meeke from Dungannon the RACMSA Rally of Scotland as his fifth win of the season to crown his title-winning 2009 IRC campaign.
