Podium finish would satisfy Meeke

Peugeot UK driver Kris Meeke says he will be satisfied if he can secure a podium finish on Rally Argentina, which finishes with a superspecial stage through the streets of Carlos Paz tomorrow afternoon.

The defending Intercontinental Rally Challenge champion, currently third overall despite a puncture on Saturday’s final stage, arrived in South America earlier this month with zero points following his crash on Rallye Automobile Monte-Carlo in January.

After getting himself back into title contention with victory in Brazil last time out, Northern Irishman Meeke is on course to leave Argentina with 16 points.

He said: “If I finish third here then I’ll leave South America with 16 points and I would be quite happy with that.”

Meeke, who has won more IRC rounds than any other driver, led Rally Argentina after Friday’s Carlos Paz superspecial but slipped back with an electrical glitch before his late puncture.
