02 October 2012 19:13 No Bulgaria reward for Greek Honda pair Vasilis Karavasilis and co-driver Giannis Saritsoglou travelled from Greece to contest the Mabanol Sliven Rally, round 11 of the all-action Intercontinental Rally Challenge, in Bulgaria last week but were soon stopped in their tracks.

The Honda Civic Type R pair crashed out on the second stage of the 13-stage asphalt event. Although members of the JAS Motorsport team – which guided Martin Kangur to second place in the IRC 2WD Cup – assisted by helping to repair the car, the extent of the damage meant Karavasilis and Saritsoglou withdrew.

“We were possibly a bit reckless and entered the bend too fast,” said Karavasilis. “We normally only participate at the Greek championships, but because Bulgaria is so close to our home, we wanted to compete against the competitors in the IRC 2WD Cup.”
