Gonon, runner-up in the IRC Production Cup in 2011, is contesting a partial IRC campaign with the French Saintéloc Racing operation at the wheel of a Peugeot 207 Super 2000.
Following his retirement on the opening stage in Ypres, Swiss driver Gonon said: “It was a real shame to retire so soon on an event that was so important. The tyres were undoubtedly a bit too cold at the beginning of the stage. The car slid and I wasn't able to get it back. We rolled three times. Luckily we didn't hurt ourselves. I feel very sorry for our partners and for the Saintéloc team, which made such big efforts to ensure that we started the rally with a really good possibility of doing well.”
