15 August 2012 00:02 Early chance to watch IRC heroes in action in Zlin Fans attending Barum Czech Rally Zlín will get an early opportunity to watch their Intercontinental Rally Challenge heroes in action by attending the pre-event shakedown on Friday 31 August.

The 4.51-kilometre practice stage from Pohorelice and Komárov runs from 08:00hrs until 13:00hrs and is traditionally a big hit with spectators ahead of the competitive action getting underway in host city Zlín that night.

“Shakedown is very popular among spectators,” said Jan Regner, the event’s deputy clerk of the course. “Even though the shakedown is not compulsory, nearly all top drivers participate every year. The foreign crews appreciate the possibility to test their cars right before the start.

“This year it is located in Pohorelice. One of the reasons is a very attractive spectators area on the village square. Every year lots of spectators come to see their favourites on the route which is very near the service park in Otrokovice.”

Access to the shakedown stage costs 80 CZK per person but is free for those in possession of an event pass. Visit www.barum.rally.cz for details.
