Mikkelsen, IRC champion in 2011, made his marathon-running debut in the Oslo Marathon in his native Norway on Saturday intent on beating three and three quarter hours. He comfortably achieved that target by completing the demanding distance in 3h38m55s.
“Running my first marathon was a really great experience,” said the ŠKODA UK Motorsport driver. “I was very happy with my time – it was not so bad, actually!”
In cool autumn conditions, 1925 runners contested the event, with Mikkelsen finishing 687th overall and 194th in the 23-34 year old male runner class.
